Beginner’s Guide to Mind Machines
So you got a Mind Machine, congrats!
There are a lot of benefits to using Mind Machines so we’ve prepared a short beginner’s guide on how to prepare yourself before going in. Please read it in its entirety before using your brand new device.
Set some uninterrupted time aside
The lights work best when you are free of distractions and can let yourself be taken away by the flow of the program. Start slow with shorter programs at first. Progressing to longer programs throughout a few weeks will come naturally.
Decide on what program you want
Depending on the time you have or the mood you want, choose the appropriate session from the list of programs on the device. You can pick from a variety of sessions, whether you want to relax or hype yourself up. Follow the instructions manual that comes with the package at first. The listed programs are a good place to start.
Get comfortable
Set aside anything else and let go of external distractions before starting. Lay down or sit in a comfortable position in a dark and quiet room. Ask the people you’re living with not to disturb you for however long the session lasts and make sure you won’t interrupt yourself by having to get up to get a drink or go to the bathroom. We’d recommend a hot shower before as well, to help you relax.
Set your expectations aside
Mind Machines are a tool. They’re not a cure or a fix-it-all. Whatever it is you’re expecting from this probably won’t happen the way you envision. It’s best to let the program do its thing and just go along for the ride.
Adjust the light and sound intensity
We’d recommend that beginners start with a short or medium-length session at a lower light intensity. Follow the instructions provided in the manual to adjust the light intensity to your preferences. You can even keep adjusting it while it plays although we recommend you choose a setting in the first few seconds and then forget about it so that you won’t be distracted.
Put the glasses on and press play
Once you’re comfortable and have everything ready, close your eyes and just press play to let the session unfold. Don’t think about it too hard or try to find meaning in what you see. Let it play out and let yourself drift with the lights. You are in total control of the session’s settings through intuitively placed buttons.
Do it again tomorrow
Keep using the device. For most people, the effects are evident on their very first try, while for others it may take some time. Some people need a period of accommodation until the mind understands how to pay attention to the audio-visual array of signals. It’s all subjective and depends on each individual and their state of mind before using a Mind Machine.
Stay active and have fun!
